A new service for dieters launched by TescoDiets Tesco
Healthy Living Tracker, has been tested by I.T. Alliance,
the Irish outsourcing company, to ensure it will be able to
cope with expected large volumes of users. The Healthy
Living tracker is a new tool designed by TescoDiets to help
users to quickly and easily keep track of their daily eating
and exercise habits. TescoDiets has reported almost thirty
thousand registered users of the tracker service since it
was launched in early January.
“TescoDiets required the system to be able to handle 3,000
concurrent users online and provide its users with a
response time of 10 seconds or less,” explained I"We
selected I.T. Alliance as we know they are experts in the
testing market and we wanted to be sure that when the
website went live it could handle a large volume of users"
Patrick O' Connor, Tesco
.T. Alliance load testing expert Alan O’Keefe. “We carried
out a full review of TescoDiet’s web based tracker
application under a very tight deadline of three weeks. We
worked closely with the TescoDiets development team to
identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the application and
the system it was deployed on.”
“We selected I.T. Alliance as we know they are experts in
the testing market and we wanted to be sure that when the
website went live it could handle a large volume of users,”
added Patrick O’ Connor, TescoDiets.
Workshops were held with TescoDiets to analyse the system
and Compuware’s load test tool ,QALoad, was recommended
based on the project’s technical and commercial
characteristics. Tests were repeatedly carried out and the
results analysed until the system had been tuned and all
bottlenecks were resolved.
To use the tracker service, which is free of charge,
participants must complete a registration process and they
are then given a personal totals allowance. Values are given
to foods based not only on the nutrition content of a food
but also on the type and its importance in a healthy diet.
This allows the user to track their progress in maintaining
a healthy lifestyle.
The application load testing service provided by I.T.
Alliance is a full end to end solution to address a
company’s load testing needs. The service models the
expected and unexpected usage of a software program by
simulating multiple users accessing the program’s services
concurrently.
The global testing market is estimated to be worth $13
billion of which about a third is outsourced.
The market involves testing of software, hardware and
infrastructure. I.T. Alliance has existing testing customers
in the telco, financial services, software manufacturing
insurance, utilities and public sectors.
I.T. Alliance offers a full I.T. testing facility with staff
on the ground in Ireland and the UK, combined with
professional Project Management, and where appropriate for
customers, a low cost option in Eastern Europe.
